Brainstorming

Today we discuss what we have read and the videos we have watched. We liked the philosophy of "think globally, act locally". We also liked the article on Malala, because she is the Nobel winner of Peace, she is from Pakistan, like many of us, and we know about her brave task for the right to education for everybody. The teacher says we also have a Nobel Prize (what?? how??). It's because the European Union won the Nobel Prize of Peace in 2012 and this is us too!
We discussed again about the 8 goals of development and read some other stories like this:
Margaret Amongo, easy access to safe water and good sanitation restores dignity and transforms livesLife is very hard in places of Africa. We have the same rights but not the same resources. What can we do? How can we help? Humberto says he visited a museum with an exhibition in Tarragona about invents that change lives: http://agenda.obrasocial.lacaixa.es/ca/-/inventos-ideas-que-cambian-vidas-1
Could we change lives too?
The discussion is about the role of NGOs and Governments, sometimes if you give money it can get lost, how can we be sure the people you want to help are really helped? We think that some objectives of the millennium are difficult for us to help but like in the article.... with education, the rest of goals can be improved. So we can help with the education goal. Now we have to think how, where, when...

This year Euroscola proposes a project of solidarity because it is the year of development. We read the instructions of Euroscola web for the future project of solidarity and the ideas they propose. We want to try them all! Then our teacher proposed a brainstorming and showed what other groups have done in the past at school and for Euroscola. We are very excited! Link:

Our ideas after this is that we can make some theater play to collect money, or cooking and sell cakes, or donate clothes... but for education we can help bringing school materials and giving it to those who don't have them. If we had superpowers we would solve all the problems but we think we actually have power to change the world, and we can go beyond the act locally... beyond Badalona...

Our teacher says he is going to Senegal for Easter holidays. We can think locally... but in Senegal. Perhaps we can help children like us in Africa with less resources. And give them what we collect. We like the idea of him taking these materials there directly. We think we have got an idea already!
